Announced on September 9, 2026 and on sale since September 18, the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max replace the 17 Pro models, which Apple no longer sells. They start at $1,199 and $1,299, $100 more than their predecessors at launch, in a year when, according to press reports, rising memory prices pushed Apple's whole range up.

What is new this year
- Variable aperture. The main camera can stop down from f/1.48 to f/4.0. In practice: more background blur in portraits at f/1.48, more of a group in focus at f/2.8 or f/4.0, and better control in bright sun, for video especially.
- A20 Pro and the C2 modem. Apple's own cellular modem now powers the Pro, with the N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth.
- Faster charging. Half a battery in about 15 minutes with a 60 W adapter, the quickest of any iPhone.
- A 2 TB option, at $2,399 for the Pro and $2,499 for the Pro Max.
Who it is for
The 18 Pro earns its premium over the iPhone 17 ($899) in three situations: you shoot video seriously, you use a telephoto every day (children's sport, concerts, animals), or you want the Pro Max's battery, the longest Apple has ever quoted at 45 hours of video playback. If none of those describes you, the extra $300 buys you features you will not use.

Prices, all storage options
| Storage | 18 Pro US | 18 Pro Max US | 18 Pro France | 18 Pro Max France |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 256 GB | $1,199 | $1,299 | €1,479 | €1,629 |
| 512 GB | $1,399 | $1,499 | €1,729 | €1,879 |

| 2 TB | $2,399 | $2,499 | €2,979 | €3,129 |
UK prices match the dollar figures in pounds (£1,199 to £2,499). Note the jump from 512 GB to 1 TB: $400, against $200 from 256 to 512 GB. If you are tempted by 1 TB, check how much storage you actually use (Settings, General, iPhone Storage) first. To see how the French price moves after launch, follow the 18 Pro price chart (France).
Resale
The Pro Max is the iPhone that keeps its value best. In SellCell's June 2026 study, an iPhone 16 Pro Max with 256 GB was still worth 56.4% of its launch price after a year, against 51.4% for a base iPhone 16. Ten weeks after launch, the 17 Pro Max had lost 26.1%, the least of the 2025 models. More in how fast iPhones lose value.
Quick answers
How much is the iPhone 18 Pro?
$1,199 for 256 GB in the US, £1,199 in the UK, €1,479 in France. The Pro Max starts at $1,299, £1,299 and €1,629.
Is the iPhone 18 Pro worth it over the iPhone 17?
Only if you need the 4x telephoto, the video features or the Pro Max's battery. For everything else, the 17 at $899 does the same job.
Can I still buy an iPhone 17 Pro?
Not from Apple: it was withdrawn when the 18 Pro launched in September 2026. Remaining stock and refurbished units are sold by retailers and carriers.
